1- Vitamin Rich: Avocados are rich in Vitamin K, Folate, Vitamin C, Potassium, and Vitamin E. Avocados are

also a great source of B vitamins which help prevent disease and infection, according to WebMD.

They’re also high in antioxidant phytochemicals such as lutein and zeaxanthin and may help

prevent cataracts and macular degeneration.


2- Heart Healthy Fats: While Avocados are very high in fat, it is a fat that is considered healthy. Containing mostly

monounsaturated fat, most of it being oleic acid, the same fatty acid found in olives and olive oil.

The benefits include increased insulin sensitivity, better blood sugar control, and lower levels of

LDL (bad) cholesterol.


3- Avocados Can Help You Feel Full - Longer: This is one of the reasons I have been able to lose as much as a half pound per day by

4-Steps to How I lost 7 pounds in 14 days with my Avocado Replacement Meal Plan

 

By now you can tell that I am a huge fan of Avocados. Not so much for their taste but because

of their healthy properties.  


The main reason I am obsessed with this terrific fruit that I call the Almighty Avocado is what it

has done for my weight.  I am obese and needed to lose 70 pounds back in 2020.  I am now

down 28 pounds over the last 2 years with 7 pounds coming off in just 2 weeks with my avocado

replacement meal.


Here’s what I am doing now:

1- I finish eating supper at least 3 hours before bedtime which for me means all eating is done

by 6 PM.


2- I don’t eat again until Noon the next day at the earliest and sometimes as late as 1 PM.

Yes, that means I fast for 18 to 19 hours with only a coffee in between. 


3- To break that fast I have one whole avocado for lunch. Sometimes I grind 2 or 3 walnuts

on it. At other times I put some siracha hot sauce on it to spice things up and follow it up

with 3 walnut halves.  Most times, it is just one whole avocado. 


4- I always drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day as well.


I don’t snack in between like I used to. I don’t feel like I need to.  I feel great with lots of energy. 

And I sleep like a baby.

Does The Keto Diet Work?

 You may not like the simple answer which is, that it all depends.  


It depends on whether you have the discipline to stay on it.  It depends if you follow it to the T.  


One thing is for sure and I know this personally, is that even cheating slightly and then going back to doing Keto the next day, can actually gain weight.  


Eating less sugar provides major health benefits.  


So how does it work: For 30 days you must go without alcohol, grains, sugar, dairy, and legumes. What you can eat is moderate amounts of meat, eggs, and seafood.  However, you can eat as many vegetables as you want.  Certain fruits are allowed.  


And make sure you get your natural fats from nuts and avocados.

The 'Benjamin Button' effect: Scientists can reverse aging in mice. The goal is to do the same for humans

In molecular biologist David Sinclair's lab at Harvard Medical School, old mice are

growing young again.

Using proteins that can turn an adult cell into a stem cell, Sinclair and his team have

reset aging cells in mice to earlier versions of themselves. In his team's first breakthrough, published in late 2020old mice with poor eyesight and damaged retinas could suddenly see again, with vision

that at times rivaled their offspring's.

"It's a permanent reset, as far as we can tell, and we think it may be a universal process

that could be applied across the body to reset our age," said Sinclair, who has spent the last

20 years studying ways to reverse the ravages of time.

"If we reverse aging, these diseases should not happen. We have the technology today to

be able to go into your hundreds without worrying about getting cancer in your 70s, heart

disease in your 80s, and Alzheimer's in your 90s." Sinclair told an audience at Life Itself,

a health and wellness event presented in partnership with CNN.

"This is the world that is coming. It's literally a question of when and for most of us, it's

Allan’s Comments: As I get older the whole science of longevity intrigues me even more.

Advances in this field are coming rapidly which is awesome as I am only 65.  

That being said, I don’t want to live a long life if I am not a functioning human being. I don’t

want to be in a bed waiting for someone to change my diapers.

Beetroot juice may aid people with coronary heart disease – study

 

Research suggests a daily glass reduces harmful inflammation by boosting nitric oxide levels

 A daily glass of beetroot juice could reduce harmful inflammation in people with coronary heart disease, according to new research.

Coronary heart disease is the most common type of heart disease, the most common cause of heart attacks, and the single biggest killer of both men and women worldwide.

People with the condition have lower levels of nitric oxide, which is produced naturally by the body and is vital for good health. In addition to its role in regulating blood pressure, it has important anti-inflammatory effects.



“Inflammation is vital to protect the body from injury and infection,” said Dr Asad Shabbir, a clinical research fellow at Queen Mary University of London, which led the research. “However, in people with coronary heart disease, persistent inflammation can exacerbate the furring of the arteries, making their condition worse and increasing their risk of a heart attack. Allan’s Comments: I eat at least 2 Beetroots per day. Admittedly boiling Beetroots can be a long process and getting them to the right texture can be a challenge as well.  I’ve tried juicing raw beetroots but I don’t like it.  So here’s what I do.
